Ahead of the release of the "LEGO Marvel Super Heroes" game this month, a five-episode web series entitled "LEGO Marvel Super Heroes: Maximum Overload" has gone online.
LEGO versions of Iron Man, Spider-Man, Thor, Black Widow, Wolverine, Loki, Captain America, The Hulk, Abomination, The Mandarin and more star in all five episodes which add up to 22 minutes in total.
The series can be watched on Disney.com, Disney's YouTube Channel, on Roku media streamers, and on Xbox TV apps. A cut together single episode version is also on Netflix.
Executive producer Cort Lane tells MTV that the web series took about a year to make from writing to animation, voice recording, and scoring. Could the special end up on Disney Channel or Disney XD? Lane hopes so.
The web series is a combination of assets from the video games, and assets from the Marvel animated series, including actor J.K. Simmons reprising his role as J. Jonah Jameson. He also hopes to do more - "if Marvel fans love it as much as we do, then hopefully yes, there could be more".
