Fox Buys "Romeo and Juliet" Drag Racing Tale

By Garth Franklin Wednesday November 6th 2013 06:52AM

Producer Marcus Wiley and "Eureka" co-creator Jaime Paglia have sold the drama series pitch "Pomona Kings" to Fox.

The story is a spin on Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet," in this version the Montague and Capulet families (one white, one Latino) are vying for power in the world of custom car fitting and drag racing in Southern California.

It's here a prodigal son and a drag-racing daughter fall in love whilst dealing with warring family patriarchs, rival gangs, car theft rings, gambling and corruption.

Wiley, Paglia and James Middleton ("Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles") are all onboard to executive produce.
