Actress Diane Keaton has bought the remake rights to Sally Wainwright's six-part BBC romantic drama series "Last Tango in Halifax" with a view to remaking it for HBO.
The original UK show aired last November and followed two widowed pensioners (Derek Jacobi and Anne Reid) who rekindle a passionate relationship that started decades ago. Filming began on a second series this Summer.
Wainwright was awaiting a greenlight from the US broadcaster, but things are presently on hold due to the original UK series being broadcast in the U.S. on PBS last month.
Wainwright said she would not have any personal involvement in a remake, though will be credited as associate producer.
