Saoirse Ronan ("The Host," "Atonement") is set to star in "Boy A" and "Closed Circuit" director John Crowley's next project "Brooklyn" which will shoot next year.
Nick Hornby is penning the adaptation of Colm Tóibín's 2009 novel which deals with emigration from Ireland to America in the 1950s.
Ronan, taking over from the previously cast Rooney Mara, will play a young Irish woman unable to find work at home. She heads to New York City where she takes up a job in a department store while undertaking night classes in bookkeeping.
She falls for, and secretly marries an Italian plumber. Returning home for her sister's funeral, she settles back into a routine and must decide which life she wants for herself.
