Rising UK cult horror and dark comedy director Ben Wheatley ("Kill List," "Sightseers," "A Field in England") is attached to direct multiple episodes of the BBC sci-fi series "Doctor Who".
Wheatley confirmed the news himself this weekend. His directing stint will be for the first two episodes of the eighth series, which will be the first to fully involve actor Peter Capaldi as the new twelfth incarnation of The Doctor (Capaldi will first cameo in this year's Christmas special).
Wheatley will film the episodes through December and into early 2014 ahead of their transmission next Fall. He'll shoot the episodes before beginning work on his next feature, an adaptation of JG Ballard’s dystopian novel "High Rise".
