"Slumdog" Team Plan WW2 Mini "Telemark"

The team behind "Slumdog Millionaire" - director Danny Boyle, writer Simon Beaufoy and producer Christian Colson - are re-teaming to produce the ten-part World War II miniseries "Telemark" for FX.

Beaufoy penned the true story tale of a group of Norwegian resistance fighters who were trained under Churchill's covert Special Operations Executive for a secret mission.

That mission? To successfully infiltrate and sabotage a heavy water production plant in Norway where Hitler's forces were developing and preparing to manufacture nuclear weapons. Their efforts, combined with an Allied bombing campaign, were successful.

Amusingly, the news comes a day after it was announced that filmmaker Michael Bay was producing (and potentially directing) a film about the same mission. That project is to be based on Neal Bascomb's upcoming book.

The miniseries would mark Boyle, Beaufoy and Colson's first project for American TV.
