NBC Set To Reboot "Remington Steele" Series

NBC is planning a sequel to the classic 1980s TV series "Remington Steele" which launched the career of Pierce Brosnan.

The original hourlong drama ran for five seasons and blended romantic comedy, drama, and detective procedural.

The story followed Laura Holt (Stephanie Zimbalist) , a licensed private detective who opened her own agency but found potential clients refused to hire a woman.

She invents a fictitious male superior named Remington Steele and ends up hiring a former thief and con man to assume that identity, while behind the scenes she remains firmly in charge.

NBC's reboot keeps the title, but shifts things to a half-hour comedy format. The action in this follows Olivia Holt, the daughter of Laura and Remington, who reopens the once famed Remington Steele Detective Agency. She ends up in the same "hilarious, action-packed, romantic entanglements of her parents".

Jay Scherick and David Ronn are writing the script and "Gangster Squad" director Ruben Fleischer is set to helm the project which has a script commitment plus penalty. All three are set to executive produce.
