Amazon is joining the media player wars with its own streaming device code-named 'Cinnamon'. The device allows users to watch apps and content, including Amazon Prime, through their TV sets.
The device would join the competitive streaming media player market currently dominated by Apple TV and Roku, the latter of which already gives users Amazon Prime access. Google's Chromecast has also entered this market in a big way.
Amazon has reportedly given companies until mid-October to come up with apps for the service which would allow it to go on sale during this holiday season.
