Trade Breaks: 30 Days, Munich, Storyline

"David Slade has signed on to direct horror film "30 Days of Night" for Columbia Pictures. The film is the latest production from Ghost House Pictures, the production company launched by Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert. Based on the Steve Niles graphic novels, the film is set in a north Alaskan town during the winter solstice when no sunlight shines for thirty days - as a result a group of vampires decide to use the opportunity for a feast..." "The Palestinian mastermind of the 1972 Munich Olympics raid, in which 11 Israeli athletes died, said director Steven Spielberg should have consulted him about a new film on the episode to be sure to get the story right. Mohammad Daoud has echoed veterans of Israel's Mossad spy service in questioning the sources used for "Munich," a thriller chronicling the massacre and the Israeli revenge assassinations that followed. "I know nothing about this film. If someone really wanted to tell the truth about what happened he should talk to the people involved, people who know the truth," Daoud told Reuters by telephone from an undisclosed location in the Middle East..." "Neil Meron and Craig Zadan's production company, Storyline Entertainment, has signed a two-year, first-look deal at New Line. Producers are already working with New Line on an adaptation of the Broadway musical "Hairspray." But they plan to develop a broad array of feature ideas, ranging from family comedies to romantic comedies to thrillers. Storyline already has a deal with Touchstone for TV series and Sony for longform TV projects. It has a pact with Disney to develop musical pics starring Hugh Jackman, but all its other features will now go first to New Line..." (full details)
