Logan Marshall-Green, Cannes Film Festival Best Actor Winner and Cesar Award nominee Olivier Gourmet and Laura Carmichael have joined the all-star cast of "Madame Bovary" featuring Mia Wasikowska, Ezra Miller, Academy-Award nominee Paul Giamatti, Rhys Ifans and Henry Lloyd-Hughes.

Principal photography on the film commences on today on location in Normandy, France.

"Madame Bovary" tells the tragic story of Emma (Wasikowska), a young beauty who impulsively marries a small-town doctor to leave her father’s pig farm behind. But after being introduced to the glamorous world of high society, she soon becomes bored with her stodgy mate and seeks excitement and status outside the bonds of marriage.

Marshall-Green will play The Marquis. Gourmet will star as Monsieur Roualt and Carmichael has been cast as Henrietta. Sophie Barthes ("Cold Souls") directs the passionate drama from a screenplay by Rose Barrenche & Sophie Barthes who adapted Gustave Flaubert’s classic novel.

The producers have assembled a top-notch below the line filmmaking team including director of photography Andrij Parekh ("Blue Valentine"), production designer Benoît Barouh ("Renoir"), four-time Cesar-award winning costume designer Christian Gasc and Valerie Ranchoux ("Farewell My Queen"), editor Mikkel Nielsen ("A Royal Affair") and composer Evgueni Galperine ("The Past").

The Occupant Entertainment production is produced by Joe Neurauter & Felipe Marino in association with Aden Films' Sophie Barthes and Aleph Motion Picture's Jaime Mateus-Tique with financing coming from film financing specialist Prescience.

Tim Smith and Paul Brett will take Executive Producer credits, Belgian’s SCOPE Pictures with Genevieve Lemal taking Co-producer credit, Left Field Ventures’ John Engel taking Co-producer credit and Germany’s A Company Filmed Entertainment with Alexander van Duelmen and Kai Kuenneman taking Co-producer credit.

The latter company, which was most recently involved in "Cloud Atlas", will also distribute the film all over Eastern Europe and Vietnam in late 2014 through its distribution arms and partners.

WME helped put the financing together and is representing US rights to the film with Mimi Steinbauer of Radiant Films International handling foreign sales.
