ABC and 20th Century Fox TV have been in discussions about a potential spinoff to the hit comedy series "Modern Family".
Things are still in flux due to the talk being in early stages, but one idea is a comes centred on Rob Riggle's Gil Thorpe character who appeared in two episodes of the fourth season.
Thorpe is Southern California's most successful and abrasive real estate agent, and the nemesis of Phil Dunphy (Ty Burrell). He also briefly employed Phil's wife Claire (Julie Bowen).
Co-creator/executive producer Steve Levitan is shepherding the idea, while co-executive producers Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh would write the script.
Fellow co-creator Christopher Lloyd is remaining focused on the main series, which is coming off its fourth consecutive Best Comedy Series Emmy win.
