While DC may be lagging behind at the movies, on the small screen they seem to be moving faster than even Marvel is at the moment.
There's the currently airing "Arrow" on The CW, "The Flash" spin-off which could hit next Fall, and a pre-Batman themed "Gotham" set to go straight to series Fox.
Now, a series adaptation of "Hellblazer" is in the works over at NBC who has committed to a script plus penalty. "Man of Steel" scribe and "Da Vinci's Demons" showrunner David S. Goyer will pen the script alongside Daniel Cerone ("The Mentalist")
Like the comic, the series follows the enigmatic con man and reluctant supernatural detective John Constantine who must defend the human race against dark forces from beyond.
The character was previously adapted for the screen in 2005's "Constantine" starring Keanu Reeves, albeit a relatively loose adaptation.
