"Little Miss Sunshine" filmmakers Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris are set to direct a film adaptation of Tim Madigan's memoir "I'm Proud of You" at Big Beach Films.
The story follows a jaded and distracted husband and father who takes a newspaper assignment, penning a celebrity profile of the children's television icon Mister Rogers.
From their first meeting in 1995, the pair became unlikely friends and stayed close until Rogers' death in 2003. Rogers, in turn, helped Madigan get over depression and heal his relationship with his father.
Micah Fitzerman-Blue and Noah Harpster are adapting the script. Youree Henley, Peter Saraf and Marc Turtletaub will produce.
