Geoffrey Rush has closed a deal to join Alex Proyas' epic fantasy "Gods of Egypt" at Summit Entertainment.
The story follows the the Egyptian god Set (Gerard Butler) who kills his brother Osiris. When Osiris' son Horus (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) fails in his attempt to get revenge, a young human thief is enlisted to defeat the mad god.
Rush will play the sun god Ra, the father of Set and Osiris, and Set’s ultimate target.
Proyas, Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazamat penned the script, while Basil Iwanyk will produce.
