Red
The CW has begun development of "Red," a "neo-Western drama about the first human settlement on Mars". Tom Szentgyorgyi penned the script.

The story deals with relationships between the town’s female sheriff, a doctor and a criminal. "The Mentalist" creator Bruno Heller will executive produce the series. [Source: Deadline]

Gringo
Starz and Bee Holder Productions have begun development of "Gringo" a drama series from "Spartacus" producers Aaron and Todd Helbing that is based on Hipolito Acosta's non-fiction novel "The Shadow Catcher".

The story chronicles a Mexican-American Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Agent who infiltrates one of Mexico’s most deadly drug and human smuggling cartels. [Source: Deadline]

The Black Box
Vanessa Redgrave has joined ABC's new limited series "The Black Box" from Ilene Chaiken and Bryan Singer. Amy Holden Jones is penning the script.

Kelly Reilly plays a world renowned neuroscientist who appears to have it all but is constantly haunted by her own struggle with mental illness. Redgrave plays her psychiatrist. [Source: TV Line]

River
"The Hour" creator Abi Morgan and producer Kudos are re-teaming for the six-part BBC One drama "River". Shooting starts in London in next year for airing in 2015.

The story follows a brilliant police officer who "walks a professional tightrope between a pathology so extreme he risks permanent dismissal, and a healthy state of mind that would cure him of his gift." [Source: BBC News]

Bonnie and Clyde
Emile Hirsch and "The Borgias" actress Holliday Grainger star as outlaw lovers Bonnie and Clyde in the upcoming two-part mini-series about the criminal couple that will air on A&E, Lifetime and The History Channel simultaneously. The first part goes to air on December 8th.
