"Evil Dead" remake director Fede Alvarez has jumped onboard the film adaptation of EA's "Dante's Inferno" video game at Universal Pictures.
The 2010 game was loosely inspired by the first third of Dante Alighieri's 14th century epic poem, "The Divine Comedy". In the game, Dante is now a Templar Knight who must travel the nine circles of Hell to rescue his beloved Beatrice's soul.
The layout of Hell is directly inspired by the work. Jay Basu penned the most recent script draft, while Patrick O'Brien, Marc Abraham and Eric Newman are set to produce
