Entertainment One (eOne), FilmDistrict, and Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions (SPWA) have announced they will develop a third chapter of the micro-budgeted "Insidious" film franchise.
"Insidious Chapter 2" opened this weekend in North America to more than $40 million at the box office, one of the largest horror genre openings ever.
The series writer Leigh Whannell has signed on to pen the third instalment. Jason Blum and Oren Peli are also returning as producers.
No mention in the press release of returning cast members, or more importantly what involvement director James Wan will have.
Wan, currently at work on "Fast and Furious 7," has previously said he's grown tired of the horror genre and that this past weekend's "Insidious Chapter 2" would be his last horror film.
