Before he gets to work on "Batman vs. Superman," Ben Affleck is diving back into directing again - albeit for television.

Affleck is set to direct the pilot for Glenn Gordon Caron's Boston-set crime drama series "The Middle Man" at FOX. Caron will serve as show runner and both will executive produce.

Set in the 1960s, the film tells the story of FBI agent Rudy MacAteer, the man charged with taking down the Italian mafia. MacAteer worked with a confidential informant, Irish-American gangster Mickey Flood.

As he finds himself bending laws to get things done, his efforts inadvertently give rise to the Irish mob.

Casting begins shortly ahead of an early 2014 shoot. This would mark the first time Affleck has directed a pilot.
