Bond Gets Crash/Baby Writer

By Garth Franklin Tuesday August 30th 2005 04:34PM

In a surprising move, Academy Award nominated scribe Paul Haggis has been tapped to do a rewrite of "Casino Royale," Sony and MGM's 21st installment of the lucrative Bond franchise says The Hollywood Reporter.

Haggis scored a nomination for penning last year's "Million Dollar Baby" and both wrote and directed this Summer's critical success and sleeper hit "Crash". Neal Purvis and Robert Wade who penned the last two Bond films "The World Is Not Enough" and "Die Another Day," wrote the previous draft.

Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson have brought back Martin Campbell ("GoldenEye," "The Legend of Zorro") to direct his second Bond which will go into production in January.

Thanks to 'Amy'.
