Disney's CFO Jay Rasulo spoke at an investor conference yesterday and confirmed one piece of information about the studio's valuable "Star Wars" property.
As we've known for a while, "Star Wars Episode VII" will kick off a whole new trilogy with new films. One will be released every two years starting in 2015.
At the same time, Disney is at work on stand alone spin-off films to fill in the gaps, meaning the first two should hit in 2016 and 2018.
Now, Rasulo confirms that those standalone films will be origin stories and that the company is alternating a trilogy film and "an origin story" annually.
Earlier this year there were rumors that the first 'origin' story would be Yoda-centric. That sadly wasn't mentioned in the address.
