Assassin's Creed Liberation
The PS Vita exclusive game "Assassin's Creed: Liberation" is no longer an exclusive. Ubisoft have revealed that a reworked high def version of the game will be coming to 360, PS3 and PC next year.
The graphics and audio have been remastered, as have cutscene facial animations. AI has also been boosted, and gameplay has been tweaked based on feedback from players of the Vita version. Camera puzzles have been cut, and some new missions have been added. [Source: Digital Trends]
Child of Light
Ubisoft have unveiled the rather gorgeous looking "Child of Light" for release in 2014 and confirmed that despite being a downloadable game, it contains more than ten hours of gameplay. It will be available on PC, PS3, PS4, Wii U, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
Microsoft director of product planning Albert Penello is now out there aggressively tackling rumors about the performance differences between the Xbox One and rival Playstation 4. He recently posted to NeoGAF a list of technical specifications that he believes have been misunderstood:
PS4's 18 CU's vs. XB1' 12 CU's =/= 50% more performance. Multi-core processors have inherent inefficiency with more CU's, so it's simply incorrect to say 50% more GPU. Adding to that, each of our CU's is running 6% faster. It's not simply a 6% clock speed increase overall.
We have more memory bandwidth. 176gb/sec is peak on paper for PS4's GDDR5. Our peak on paper is 272gb/sec. (68gb/sec DDR3 + 204gb/sec on ESRAM). ESRAM can do read/write cycles simultaneously so I see this number mis-quoted. We have at least 10% more CPU. Not only a faster processor, but a better audio chip also offloading CPU cycles.
We have 3X the coherent bandwidth for GPGPU at 30gb/sec which significantly improves our ability for the CPU to efficiently read data generated by the GPU."
A portion of the claims in his response have been shot down in comments sections by tech heads, most notably the peak memory bandwidth talk, while others make assumptions about some technical details about the PS4 console which actually have yet to be revealed. Either way, Microsoft isn't taking the online snarky remarks lying down any more and are engaged in full PR war.
Think the cost of the news consoles is bad? Be glad you don't live in Argentina. Due to the massive inflation crisis in the country, the PS4 is currently retailing for $1,137 US Dollars on launch day. To put that in perspective, the average Argentinian makes $10,000 USD per year. [Source: VG247]
Call of Duty: Ghosts
"Call of Duty" is one of those game series where you wonder why they bother with the campaign mode any more, it's a game designed primarily for multiplayer which explains why the campaign mode has been getting shorter with each title in the series. Nevertheless, Activision is marching on with it and have just released the trailer for the campaign mode which you can see below:
