Harry Treadaway ("City of Ember," "Fish Tank," "Control") is set to play Dr. Victor Frankenstein in Showtime's highly anticipated drama series "Penny Dreadful" which begins filming this Fall.
"Skyfall" director Sam Mendes and writer John Logan, along with Pippa Harris, are set to executive produce the eight-episode period drama which revolves around literature's famed monsters. The show will combine their classic horror origin stories as they deal with their own monstrous alienation.
The latest press release from Showtime announces Treadaway's casting, confirms the previously reported casting of Reeve Carney as Dorian Grey, and includes the addition of "Skyfall" actor Rory Kinnear in the role of a "mysterious character of haunting intensity".
Josh Hartnett, Timothy Dalton and Eva Green also star in the series which premieres next year on the network. Juan Antonio Bayona ("The Impossible," "The Orphanage") helms the first two episodes.
