With the Labor Day holiday weekend over, so is the official Summer movie going season. The box-office figures are now all in and, for Hollywood anyway, it was the "best Summer ever" with $4.71 billion in domestic revenue alone from the first weekend in May through until yesterday.
That's a new record, up 8% on last year. It wasn't just higher ticket prices either, attendance rose 6.5% to roughly 572 million. For those hoping for some originality, you're out of luck though - the six highest-grossing films this summer were sequels, prequels or reboots.
The L.A. Times has posted an infographic showcasing the biggest domestic earners of the season.
