"Lord of the Rings" and "The Matrix" trilogy producer Barrie Osborne is reportedly interested in shooting a $100 million Viking blockbuster in Norway.
Osborne says he is drawn to the project the "authentic landscape" and the expert knowledge local historians have about the Viking era.
The hope is to make a trilogy biopic about Harald Hardrada, the last great Viking king, who died in his attempt to conquer England in 1066. He tells Norwegian outlet Stavanger Aftenbladet:
"The movie will be about how Harald evolved from a teenager to a great leader who rallied his kingdom. There is so much to tell about Harald that it does not fit in one movie. We need to create a trilogy. It will have the same structure as 'Lord of the Rings', where the hero travels through many countries and kingdoms."
It's unclear if this is the same project at "King Harald" announced earlier this month that Warner Bros. and Appian Way were developing as a potential starring vehicle for Leonardo DiCaprio.
