Justin Timberlake has entered negotiations to produce the remake of Taylor Hackford's 1980 feature "The Idolmaker" at MGM.
The original followed a fictional music promoter and his girlfriend who worried about his obsession with breaking the next big musical act. It was inspired by the life of rock promoter/producer Bob Marcucci.
Timberlake currently has no plans to star in the new version, though that might change depending upon the script and director.
The project sounds similar to JT's upcoming producing debut, a biopic of infamous record executive Neil Bogart entitled "Spinning Gold" which is aiming to shoot next year.
A few years ago, Ryan Gosling was previously signed on to star in and make his directorial debut on "The Idolmaker". he abruptly pulled out a few weeks later, citing a busy schedule.
