AMC's "Breaking Bad" seems to have scored a bunch of new viewers over the break, while existing viewers also made sure to tune in.
The final season premiere episode "Blood Money" pulled in 5.9 million viewers, that's about double the drama series' previous record of 3 million viewers for the highest rated episode of last season.
Increasing hype, superb word of mouth, and the entire series so far being available on Netflix's Instant Watch for several months are big factors that have led to that jump in ratings.
Also one scene from the premiere, Badger's idea for "the goriest Star Trek episode ever", has already gone viral in both its original form and an animated interpretation of the monologue. There's no spoilers for the rest of the episode so it's safe for those holding off for a marathon viewing of the final season.
