Early last year, premium cable network Starz picked up the biopic project "Marco Polo" as a straight to series order.
Attempts to film the series in China failed, leading the network to release the drama back to The Weinstein Company which is producing it.
Now, TWC is reportedly considering whether to turn the property into a feature film, or set it up as a nine-episode event series on streaming service Netflix which is said to be very interested.
John Fusco ("Young Guns") and Dave Erikson ("Sons of Anarchy") created the show which chronicles the explorer's journey and as a figure at the center of a brutal war between two empires in 13th century China. Throw in battle scenes, sexual intrigue, political machinations and all sorts of other thriller elements.
Harvey and Bob Weinstein, and Ben Silverman will serve as executive producers.
