Weinsteins, Stiller Might Join The "War"

The Weinstein Company is in negotiations to produce and finance the period drama "The Current War".

Set in the late 1880s, the story revolves around Thomas Edison and George Westinghouse's battle over the supply of electricity - Edison championed direct current (DC), while Westinghouse Electric and several European companies backed alternating current (AC).

Playwright Michael Mitnick penned the Black List script, while Timur Bekmambetov, Steve Zaillian and Garrett Basch are producing.

Bekmambetov was slated to direct but that is no longer the case. A number of replacements are said to be circling, including Ben Stiller.
