Newcomer Taron Egerton will begin negotiations shortly for the lead role opposite Colin Firth in Matthew Vaughn's upcoming adaptation of the comic "The Secret Service" at 20th Century Fox and Marv Films.
In the film, Firth's characters mentors his nephew (Egerton) to become a secret agent. Egerton beat out the likes of Jack O'Connell, John Boyega and Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
Graduating a year ago from RADA, Egerton has already worked at the National Theatre and the Royal Court. He's also filmed a guest spot on TV's "Inspector Lewis," and is currently shooting the Sky1 series "The Smoke".
Michael Caine has also joined the cast in the role of the head of the Secret Service.
Vaughn co-wrote the script with Jane Goldman, based on the comic by Mark Millar and David Gibbons. Shooting kicks off this fall.
