If Zach Braff and those "Veronica Mars" kids can do it, why not Spike Lee.
The celebrated filmmaker has turned to Kickstarter to score the $1.25 million in financing he needs to create the next Spike Lee joint.
In an open letter, Lee says the Hollywood studio system's current climate is not an encouraging place for indie filmmakers and hopes to make a film that is the complete opposite of all that as he has a "different vision of what cinema can be".
He also says he's waiving any fee and "every dollar will go up on the screen".
A $10,000 pledge will get you dinner and court side seats alongside Lee at Madison Square Garden to see the Knicks play. For the full details, check out Kickstarter.com
