Appearing at the San Diego Comic Con to promote the upcoming Fox series "Almost Human," actor Karl Urban revealed that chances of a sequel to last year's well-regarded but little seen "Dredd 3D" aren't as hopeless as we may have been led to believe.
Urban says: "It's certainly my hope that we get to make more. Clearly it has found an audience. The home video sales for Dredd 3D just went through the roof. I think it sold 650,000 units in the first week."
The actor added that he met with "Dredd 3D" writer-producer Alex Garland about the potential follow-up.
Shot for $45 million, the movie scored solid reviews and took in just $36 million worldwide. Urban also urges fans to get involved in demanding a sequel:
"I think the more people that campaign for it, the more people that email, Twitter and write into Lionsgate and say 'We want to see more of this,' then the more likelihood is that we'll get to see that. We certainly are doing everything we can to ensure that happens."
