Rosamund Pike ("Jack Reacher," "The World's End," "Die Another Day") is reportedly the front runner for the female lead in David Fincher's "Gone Girl" at 20th Century Fox and New Regency.
Based on Gillian Flynn's novel, Ben Affleck plays a philandering husband whose wife (Pike) goes missing on the morning of their five-year anniversary.
Flynn's novel was the second most popular on the best seller list last year, behind only "Fifty Shades of Grey".
Reese Witherspoon is onboard as well, but only as a producer. Filming aims to begin in September.
