At the Galway Film Festival in Ireland last week, "Star Trek" actor Zachary Quinto reportedly told BuzzHub:
"'Star Trek 3' should be filming, I suppose, next year. It's going to be made a lot quicker than the last one. That's the plan, although nothing is confirmed yet."
Quinto also says that Abrams was planning to direct. This schedule sounds like wishful thinking considering Abrams' "Star Wars Episode VII" commitments.
Asked if he'd like to be a part of the next "Star Wars" film, he also said he wouldn't.
In other sequel news, actor Hank Azaria was out this weekend doing promotion for the upcoming second "The Smurfs" film.
Azaria tells Coming Soon that there's already a major story idea in place for the third film which is currently scheduled for 2015:
"I hear that the third movie, if there is one, might actually deal with the genuine origin of how all these characters ran into each other way back when."
