IDW Publishing, film scribe Roberto Orci, and comic creators Mike Johnson and Claudia Balboni are teaming for a graphic novel mini-series that aims to flesh out some of the backstory of "Star Trek Into Darkness".
The six-issue mini-series, entitled "Star Trek: Khan," will be written by Johnson with oversight by Orci, and illustrated by Balboni. The first issue is set for release in October, and Johnson says:
"We're traveling back in time to show Khan's rise to power and give fans their first look at the legendary Eugenics Wars. As the series unfolds we will see the events that led to Khan leaving Earth aboard the Botany Bay, and then jump forward to witness his awakening in the future by Admiral Marcus."
Johnson was previously responsible for the comics "Star Trek: Countdown," "Star Trek: Nero" and "Star Trek: Countdown to Darkness" which served as prequels to the two J.J. Abrams Trek features.
