Scared Heath Keen on Brokeback

Heath Ledger has finally spoken out on being cast in a lead role opposite Jake Gyllenhaal in Ang Lee's gay cowboy drama "Brokeback Mountain". In a recent press conference, the Aussie star admitted he had trepidations about taking the part though not the gay aspect of it - in fact he got 'uppity' according to the Brit tabloids about even being questioned about it:

"What is it about wrangling Jake Gyllenhaal up in the mountains that frightens me? Just that! But it obviously doesn't scare me away because I'm doing it. Aren't we at the stage these days when it just doesn't * matter? It's a story of love and it's a story between two people. If people can't get over that and just accept it as a story, then that's their problem. I'm big enough and brave enough to do it in the fact that being brave is having to answer questions like that".

Ledger is understandably sick of such questions. In the mid-90's the then mid-teens actor found his breakthrough role as a cyclist who comes out as gay in the Aussie sports-institute set drama "Sweat" and in interviews was more relaxed and not worried about it than most veteran actors.

These days, and despite not having had a hit in a while, the actor is making a bit of a comeback with having recently wrapped a role in "Brothers Grimm", he's lined up several projects starting with "Lords of Dogtown" - "I play a surfer in that one, and then I'm going to play a heroine addict in an Australian movie. And finally, I'll be playing Casanova for Lasse Hallstrom".

Thanks to 'Patrick'.
