DreamWorks is reportedly considering a new film adaptation of John Steinbeck's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel "The Grapes of Wrath".
The 1939 Depression-era novel tells the tale of a poor family of tenant farms driven from their Oklahoma home by drought.
Early discussions are underway with the estate of the late author for the rights. Steven Spielberg could potentially produce, but will not direct, the project.
John Ford helmed the previous 1940 film adaptation which won two Oscars for directing and supporting actress.
