With his thriller "Red Eye" hitting theatres next week, Director Wes Craven is already turning his attention to other projects. In a recent interview with Freeze Dried Movies, Craven revealed that he's looking to branch out beyond the horror film genre that has brought him fame - "I felt so strongly about this picture [Red Eye] because I kinda wanted to see if that change of perception would happen, where I would be talked about as a director who could direct a thriller, or could do suspense or a romance. I want to be available for whatever fate brings down the road next."
To that effect, he's already lining up several pictures. "Right now there are three films that I'm looking at" said the Elm Street helmer. "One will be a romantic comedy, 'Susan's Last Letter' about a man whose wife dies and a year after her death he gets a letter from her because she knows him so well that she knows that he probably wouldn't be seeing other women, and so sets him up...
There's also a road picture with an eleven year old girl and there's a costume drama based on a novel that was an Oprah Winfrey choice. I'm also in talks for a show believe it or not, out in Vegas called "Magic Macabre" with the same guys who did Riverdance. I think it's just a hoot, the thought of being out in Vegas."
Finally, Craven also revealed that some of the key extras on "Red Eye" are a lot of crew members or producers. For the full interview, click here.
