Marvel Studios and Disney Pictures are confirmed to be releasing a new Marvel movie on July 18th 2016.
This joins the recently announced and presently unknown Marvel films that are currently targeting a May 6th 2016 and May 5th 2017 release. All three films are set to be part of Marvel's "third phase" of films.
Marvel's Phase Two plans consist of "Iron Man 3" and "Thor: The Dark World" this year, "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" and "Guardians of the Galaxy" in 2014, and "The Avengers 2" in 2015.
The first Phase Three film is "Ant-Man" which is currently slated for the second half of 2015. It's almost certain one of the 2016/2017 mystery three will be the long-awaited "Doctor Strange" movie.
The other two though? Both Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth have six-film contracts. Along with the three "Avengers" films, it means third entries are highly likely in the "Thor" and "Captain America" franchises. At least one of these mystery three will be a third entry in one of those franchises.
Don't be shocked if Marvel stake out two more film slots in the near future - the second half of 2017, and a May 2018 release for a third "The Avengers".
