Steve Carrell Dismisses Joker Rumours

By Garth Franklin Monday August 8th 2005 04:07PM

This past weekend there was a flurry of on-line speculation that funnyman Steve Carrell was being lined up to play The Joker in the proposed "Batman Begins" sequel. Much of the reason for the speculation comes from Carrell being attached to star in the big-screen remake of "Get Smart", which is being produced by "Batman Begins" producer Charles Roven.

IGN FilmForce attended a press junket today for "The 40-Year-Old Virgin" this past weekend and here's what Carrell himself had to say about The Joker buzz - "I just heard that for the first time this morning and I had no... Yeah! That would be hilarious - I would love to do that! But I doubt that it's true. (Laughs) ... No, he's [possibly Charles Roven] never said anything about that, so I think that's probably completely fabricated. But I love it. I love the rumor. That would be cool. (laughs)"

Thanks to 'Stax' & 'Robert'.
