Johnny Knoxville has signed on to John Woo's adaptation of Louis L'amour's western novel "The Shadow Riders" for Universal Pictures and Spyglass Entertainment. Knoxville will play Jesse, the wisecrackin' young brother of Mac (Josh Lucas) and Dal Traven (Matthew McConaughey) who gets into a tight spot that may cost him everything. Production begins October 31st 2005 in Vancouver, BC with Larry Konner & Mark Rosenthal ("Mona Lisa Smile") penning the script. No word on who will play the other two central characters.
Knoxville has also signed on to 20th Century Fox's remake of the 1992 Jackie Chan film "City Hunter". He will play the title character who goes after the daughter of a rich executive with the help of his doting assistant on a cruise boat somewhere in the South Atlantic. Hunter only has two problems: He is a womanizing P.I. and a rogue CIA operative (Thomas Jane) wants him dead. This version will stick close to the Japanese manga of the same name. Rob Cohen is expected to direct from Simon Kinberg's script.
