British actress Carey Mulligan ("The Great Gatsby," "An Education") has emerged as the front-runner to play Hillary Rodham Clinton in the indie biopic "Rodham" at Temple Hill and The Arlook Group.
Mulligan is the producers' top choice to play Clinton during the formative years of her career in the public service. At the time she's a young lawyer on the committee involved in President Richard Nixon's impeachment.
She must also juggle a diverging career path with her unresolved feelings for future U.S. President Bill Clinton. Mulligan will soon sit down with director James Ponsoldt to hopefully hammer out a deal.
Scarlett Johansson, Jessica Chastain and Emma Stone had previously been rumoured, with Chastain soon after taking her name out of contention. Young Il Kim penned the script.
Richard Arlook, Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen will produce.
