Lasse Hallstrom is set to to direct and Helen Mirren is tipped for the key role in "The Hundred-Foot Journey" at DreamWorks and Reliance.
An adaptation of the Richard C. Morais novel, the story follows the rivalry between a three-Michelin-star restaurant in France, and the Indian restaurant that resides just 100 feet away.
The French restaurant is run by eccentric chef Madame Mallory (Mirren), who reluctantly forms a mentoring bond with a young Indian boy whose family owns the rival restaurant.
Steven Knight ("Eastern Promises") adapted the script, while Steven Spielberg, Oprah Winfrey and Juliet Blake will produce. Shooting will begin this fall.
