Tom Cruise has set a deal to star in and produce a fifth installment in the "Mission: Impossible" franchise for Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions.
No writer, director or release date has been announced, though Cruise's frequent collaborator Christopher McQuarrie remains the favorite at the moment. Whomever gets the helming gig will be announced shortly.
Cruise and JJ Abrams‘ Bad Robot will develop and produce the next film following on from 2011's "Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol" which scored franchise best reviews and grossed nearly $700 million worldwide from a $145 million budget.
No word on whether Cruise's 'Ghost Protocol' co-stars Simon Pegg, Jeremy Renner and Paula Patton will return.
