"Angels in the Outfield" helmer William Dear has signed on to direct "The Third Miracle" for Lone Runner Entertainment. Indie pic is based on the true story of a team of impoverished boys from Monterrey, Mexico, circa 1957, who become the first non-U.S. team to win the Little League World Series. Lone Runner topper W. Paramount wants to be "Closed for Christmas," snapping up Craig Doyle's buddy comedy pitch and setting up the project with Mark Waters, Jessica Tuchinsky and Tom Lassally. Story's centered on a detective who's transferring a fugitive when weather interferes and forces him to bring the prisoner home to his small town for the holidays.
