Sequels are already said to be in development for the still to be released cop comedies "The Heat" at Fox and "Ride Along" at Universal.
Scribe Katie Dippold has been hired to pen the script for a follow-up to the Paul Feig-helmed 'Heat' despite the Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy-led laugher not opening until June 28th.
In the film, Bullock plays a by-the-books FBI agent who teams with a rough-around-the-edges local Boston cop (McCarthy) to take down a drug lord.
Meanwhile, Universal is already moving forward with a sequel to the Tim Story-directed "Ride Along" and have hired Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi to pen it. The first film doesn't hit cinemas until next January.
Kevin Hart plays a fast-talking aspiring police officer who must team up with his girlfriend's brother, a hot-tempered cop (Ice Cube) to prove that he's worthy of being her husband.
