The Weinstein Company has hired "Smashed" and "The Spectacular Now" filmmaker James Ponsoldt for two big projects.
The first is a new movie adaptation of the venerable musical "Pippin" which Ponsoldt will script.
The musical, which gets a revival on Broadway later this year, follows the son of King Charlemagne and his attempt to find his place in the world.
The second is an adaptation of "Silver Linings Playbook" author Matthew Quick's new tome "Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock".
The story follows a young man who sets out to kill his former best friend and then himself. He also plans to say goodbye to four people who matter most to him. Ponsoldt will adapt the script and direct that project.
