A lot of people stayed in over the weekend it seems as cable TV ratings scored solid numbers.
The series finale for Starz' "Spartacus" drew 1.43 million viewers to the 9 p.m. premiere broadcast, a 53% jump over the season premiere. All up it pulled in 2.7 million viewers over the weekend.
Starz' new series "Da Vinci's Demons" retained 72% of that Spartacus lead-in with an average of 1.04 million viewers. Including encores, the premiere drew more than 2.14 million viewers over the weekend.
Despite the notable absence of several winners, the MTV Movie Awards were a big draw with 3.8 million viewers tuning in this past Sunday night - up from 3.2 million for last year's telecast. It also scored a 3.4 rating for the key 12-to-34 demo that the network targets.
