"Rust and Bone" star Matthias Schoenaerts has been offered a role and "Watchmen" actor Matthew Goode is rumored to be joining the new adaptation of Thomas Hardy's "Far From The Madding Crowd" at DNA Films, Fox Searchlight and BBC Films.
"The Hunt" director Thomas Vinterberg helms this take, and Carey Mulligan is still being eyed to star in the lead role of Bathsheba Everdene, a woman being courted by three men.
Schoenaerts and Goode are being offered the roles of two of those three men - the shepherd Gabriel Oak, and the handsome soldier Sergeant Troy respectively. The third role, farm owner William Boldwood, has yet to be cast.
David Nicholls is penning the script with shooting aiming to begin this Summer.
