Fury, Frankenstein, Fairy Set Dates

A big week for films scoring new or first U.S. release date announcements. Lets begin:

The Michael Cera-led Chilean indie drama "Crystal Fairy" has scored a July 12th limited release.

The young adult fantasy sequel "Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters" has been moved up nearly a fortnight and will now open August 7th.

Wong Kar-Wai's "The Grandmaster" has undergone a title change for North America to "Grandmasters". The Weinstein Company have set an August 23rd wide release.

The Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone-led prison escape action film "The Tomb" has been renamed to the far duller sounding "The Escape Plan". It has also scored a September 13th release date.

FilmDistrict has moved up "Insidious Chapter 2" by a week to September 13th.

Relativity Media has set an October 18th release date for Joseph Gordon-Levitt's R-rated comedy "Don Jon" (formerly "Don Jon’s Addiction").

Focus Features has scored the rights to Jean-Marc Vallee's "The Dallas Buyers Club" starring Matthew McConaughey. No specific date is set, but an awards qualifying Fall release is now apparently being targeted.

Lionsgate has pushed back the Aaron Eckhart-led "I, Frankenstein" from mid-September to January 24th 2014 which marks the film's second major delay.

Paul W.S. Anderson's disaster epic "Pompeii", starring Kit Harington and Emily Browning, has announced a February 28th 2014 release date.

Finally, Sony Pictures has acquired domestic and most international distribution rights to David Ayer’s $80 million WW2 tank film "Fury" starring Brad Pitt. Shooting kicks off in September, with Sony already locking down a November 14th 2014 release date.
