It was already thought to be the case, but now it is set in stone - there will NOT be a sequel to last year's "Dredd," the surprisingly fun and robust take on the Judge Dredd comics.
During a recent Reddit online Q&A, producer Adi Shankar was surprisingly honest about why the sequel isn't happening:
"It's because the movie totally bombed & R-rated movies are a tough sell to begin with. If Dredd becomes a cult hit it will be awesome. Last September was a terrible month: Dredd bombed and then Looper became a massive hit a week later!"
Shankar adds that he is working on a "Dredd" short film in the vein of "Dirty Laundry," the "Punisher"-themed short fan film he and Thomas Jane did together last year.
